Exploring post-quantum preparedness

The quantum age is approaching, security on a new foundation.

With the emergence of quantum computing, today’s encryption methods will eventually become vulnerable, posing a serious threat to existing cryptographic systems. To mitigate this risk, the adoption of post-quantum cryptography (PQC) is essential, as it relies on quantum-resistant algorithms to secure key exchanges and digital signatures. One of the most significant dangers is the “harvest now, decrypt later” attack model, in which encrypted data collected today may be decrypted in the future using quantum technologies.

Under the NIS2 regulations, organizations are required to develop a comprehensive strategy and maintain an inventory of the cryptographic tools they use, to accurately assess their exposure and vulnerabilities. Noreg’s PQC Scan solution supports this effort by providing a complete overview through network scanning and certificate analysis.

However, transitioning to quantum-safe cryptography is not a single step, but a multi-phase process that requires ongoing monitoring and continuous measurement to ensure successful implementation.
